Other times you'll need to find keys or passwords. Sometimes you need to find a tool to work with a object. Sometimes you just need to gather enough parts to complete an object. The puzzles, for the most part, feel very intuitive. You can also get hints from the drone on demand, though it will ask you if you want advice if you're not making progress. Your floating head robot drone will give you some unsolicited hints at the start of the game to get you started. You have to figure out where you are and where to start looking for clues. The gameplay is very escape room part scavenger hunt and part puzzles. Your task is to restore power and escape this single room. Luckily, you just happen to be in the apartment of the guy responsible for the power-grid. There's a minimal story, you're trapped in a room due to a city-wide power outage. It took me 5 minutes to cycle down to Low in the graphics settings, since this game is a massive resource hog. There are graphics settings that default to "Ultra". It's dialog is mostly groan worthy puns, but it adds to the aesthetics. This time, you're accompanied by a drone companion that acts like part inventory and part hint machine. The atmosphere is very sci-fi noir (aka Blade Runner like) and very well done. It takes a lot of the ideas from the first and creates an interesting single-room game.

At 9 bucks for this 40 minute game, it's just too overpriced and unpolished - even though it's fun.Ībode 2 is that "next game" that I'd be looking for. It's the type of game that I'd recommend if it were very cheap or free, and then watch to see what game the dev teams makes next. The controls a very minimal and only teleporting is available. It has primitive graphics and a tiny drive footprint. I still recommend trying the DEMO on mobile.Ībode TL DR - it's an interesting prototype single room escape room, but really jankĪbode 2 TL DR - it's a massive improvement over the first, but really poorly optimizedĪbode feels like a prototype that you'd find on Sidequest. If you want some more "The Room" and don't mind that it's going to be simple in comparison to later entries, then this game is for you. If you've a big tablet, this is a better option because of the cheaper price.Įven though I liked the game it's difficulty level is going to be an issue for some.

The Android (and iOS?) version lets you play the tutorial chapter FREE and then you can buy the rest game for 6 bucks. It's not a bad price, but it feels more like a 4-5 dollar game. At 8 bucks on Steam, that's 4 bucks an hour at best. In 1.5 to 2 hours, you'll see all there is to see in the game. It's also available on mobile it was likely optimized for small devices first.

The PC system requirements for this game are low, so even an old system should have no problem running at max. The visuals are nice and the engine runs smooth. It was still engaging enough gameplay that made me want to keep going and I played the entire game in one sitting. When you click on certain items, it will display a hint in the form of inner dialog. The hint dialog text is also a bit too obvious and not optional. It's not dead easy, but puzzle game vets aren't going to get stumped by anything. The gameplay is good, since it's basically The Room. There's a bit of lore, but you'll know exactly what's happening and where it's going without reading any lore.

It's the "Hey, I wonder what goes here" sign posting you expect. There's text dialog that's mostly filler. You work in an alien objects division and you have to figure out each of the puzzles. There's a simple inventory and a permanent section of 3 tools that you'll discover along the way. The zoom in, zoom out mechanic is the same. It's the single object puzzlebox game with a sci-fi theme instead of magic.
